Finally, Sony decided to do this! You can now change your PlayStation Network (PSN) Online ID. But you need to keep in mind that your first change is free, then you will be charged for subsequent changes. Just keep this in mind. Most of you might be so eager to change your old childish ID into something professional, maybe your own name or your brand’s name, but before that, check these points mentioned by Sony:
You may lose access to content (including paid-for content) that you have acquired for your games, including content such as add-ons and virtual currency.
You may lose your progress within games, including game saved data, leaderboard data, and progress toward trophies.
Parts of your games and applications might not function properly, both online and offline.
Your previous online ID(s) may remain visible to you and other players in some places.
Now if you are ready, go to your PSN Profile > Online ID - Then click on the “Edit” button there. That’s all. You can pick another username if it’s available.
That’s all. Let us know if you changed your PSN ID recently!
